Hydraulic elements for equipment return lines, pressure circuits and reservoirs.
Fitment guide
How to choose hydraulic filters
State where the element is installed. Pressure-line, return-line and suction components serve different duties. Confirm the assembly number and manufacturer’s filtration specification.
Details to include in your request
Old filter number and equipment make, model and serial number
Pressure-line, return-line and suction applications
Hydraulic filtration can take place at different points in a circuit. Pressure-line, return-line and suction applications have different duties and operating requirements. Start with the filter housing location and part number. An element intended for one position should be checked against the manufacturer specification before it is considered for another.
A return-line element handles fluid returning toward the reservoir. A pressure-line housing operates under conditions specified for that part of the circuit. Suction-side components have their own flow and restriction requirements. These application names narrow the search, while the housing reference and technical specification determine the replacement.
Understand the filtration rating before comparing
A micron value is a particle-size reference. For a meaningful comparison, check the stated filtration efficiency or beta ratio at that size, plus the test basis used by the manufacturer. Two elements described with the same micron figure may have different rated efficiencies or construction.
The element specification can also include flow, collapse rating, seal material, fluid compatibility and bypass requirements. Compare these details against the original equipment documentation. Where the housing and element each have their own part numbers, include both in the enquiry.
What to send when the old number is missing
Photograph the housing label, the element and both end caps. Record the equipment make, model and serial, and note the filter location. Approximate dimensions can help screen possible matches. The final selection should be based on a confirmed reference and the circuit requirements.
For a fleet order, keep return-line and pressure-line elements on separate rows even if they share similar dimensions. Include the machine serial range, filter position, quantity and service deadline. If a cross-reference is proposed, ask for the exact replacement number and retain it with the original reference for future purchases.

Example workshop enquiry
A loader purchase request includes two similar-looking cartridges. One is from the return housing and the other is from a pressure-line housing. The technician photographs each label and records where it was fitted. The buyer keeps the two references separate and requests confirmation against the respective housing specifications.
Can I compare a hydraulic element based on its micron rating alone?
Check the rated efficiency at the stated particle size and the application requirements. Match the housing interface, operating conditions and relevant element specifications before approving a substitute.
